Crescent Community Health Center Relocates to Accommodate Growing Patient Community

DUBUQUE, Iowa, November 21, 2019 – On Monday, November 25, 2019 Crescent Community Health Center (Crescent) will open its doors at their new facility located at 1690 Elm Street, to serve all patients in their diverse and expansive service areas. Crescent’s strong community support and dedicated staff have come together to bring this outstanding endeavor to their patients. Many of these consumers would otherwise not have access to the preventative and chronic care they need.

The innovative new clinic will benefit patients by offering nearly double the space, thus increasing accessibility and services. Crescent’s expansion includes 17 dental suites, 14 medical exam rooms, an on-site wellness center and training kitchen, employee training center, patient kiosks and much more.

“Crescent’s new and expanded facility will allow us to serve our growing patient base holistically while continually improving our quality and patient outcomes,” said Mary Rose Corrigan, Board Chair. “After several years of thoughtful and strategic planning by our board of directors, staff and community partners, we’re delighted to move into the Metz building, a historic and repurposed facility that will serve the surrounding neighborhoods and the tri-state areas.”

In 2018, Crescent served over 6,300 patients, a number which is expected to grow to over 8,000 by 2021. Community health centers continue to be economic drivers, having a $35.5 million annual economic impact in Iowa alone. They are also cost-effective Medicaid providers, serving 13.6% of all Medicaid beneficiaries in Iowa, but representing only 1.21% of the state of Iowa’s total Medicaid expenditures. In our local service area Crescent has a 23% penetration rate of the uninsured population and a 34% penetration rate of the total Medicaid population.

“Thank you to our board of directors for their leadership, to the city of Dubuque for their steadfast support over the years and to our donors for their ongoing generosity.  We are extremely grateful for the connection our fine community has made to this gem of a resource,” stated Gary Collins, CEO. “Our patients will certainly enjoy the opportunity to be seen in the state-of-the-art building conveniently located on Dubuque’s north end. This venture underscores our ongoing mission to provide high-quality, respectful and affordable medical, dental and brain health care to improve the health and well-being of our community.”
