Amanda Sand

Amanda Sand joined the Board of Directors in January 2026. Originally from northwest Iowa, Amanda moved to Dubuque in 2019 and now lives in the community with her husband and their four children.

Amanda spent more than a decade working in public libraries, most recently serving as Director of the Dubuque County Library District in Asbury.  Throughout her career, she has been passionate about the role public institutions play in strengthening communities—ensuring people have access to the information, resources, and services they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Today, Amanda works as a consultant and spends much of her time volunteering through advocacy efforts and nonprofit board and committee service.

Serving on the Crescent Community Health Board is both personal and meaningful for Amanda. As a patient of Crescent, she has experienced firsthand the care her family receives and appreciate the organization’s commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive services. Amanda sees strong parallels between community health centers and public libraries: both are trusted institutions that meet people where they are and work to remove barriers so individuals and families can thrive. She is passionate about contributing to organizations that strengthen the health and vitality of the Dubuque community.

Amanda has also served on several nonprofit boards, including Pride Orange City—where she served as both secretary and president—and the Iowa Library Association Board. Outside of work and volunteer service, Amanda enjoys reading, baking, cooking, painting, and tackling home projects when time allows.
