Response to Telegraph Herald Article

The October 30 Telegraph Herald article portrayed a very dire picture of Crescent Community Health Center's financial status as a result of no current, approved legislation to continue to fund health centers, Children’s Health Insurance program (CHIP), the National Health Service Corps and Teaching Health Centers. Iowa’s Federal legislators have assured me that legislation is being brought to the Senate and House this week to extend funding for all of these programs.

Crescent’s funding is solid and we are confident in the bipartisan support health centers have received in the past and that it will continue in the future.

Contrary to what was indicated in the paper, there are no plans for layoffs. In fact, we exploring expanding our staff and facility in 2018. These additions include outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment, and assuming responsibility for the Community Health Worker program.

The Crescent Community Health Center team looks forward to continuing to provide quality and compassionate care to our patients.

Sincerely,
Julie Woodyard
Executive Director
