Teri attended Scott Community College and graduated in dental assisting in 2012. She joined the Crescent Community Health Center (Crescent) team in 2016 at a dental assistant. Prior to coming to Crescent she lived and worked in the dental field in Davenport, Iowa.
Teri came to Crescent because she wanted to work with a more diverse community of patients. "I saw the need for dental care while dental assisting. I realized that I wanted to be the one to work directly with patients and teach them about ways to obtain optimal oral health to prevent tooth decay," said Tomkins. "My ability to be empathetic to their needs and be a great listener was always an attribute that I felt wasn't being used to the fullest potential. I was very driven and motivated to get through dental hygiene school so I could finally teach oral hygiene and be able to see the changes in the patients I see, as well as be a great addition to the dental team to help the community."
