Jennifer Steines graduated with her undergraduate (BBA – Bachelor of Business Administration with an Emphasis in Accounting) from the University of Iowa in May 1998. Then in December 2018 she graduated with her MHA (Master of Healthcare Administration) from the University of Cincinnati. Jennifer joined the Crescent Community Health Center (Crescent) team in June 2020. She had previously worked in healthcare as the chief financial officer for United Clinical Laboratories in Dubuque where she oversaw the accounting and payroll, business office, and materials management departments, along with overseeing its’ 401(k) plan and self-funded health plan with its’ HR director. She ensured the organization’s fiscal compliance and produced and presented all fiscal reports. Finally, she helped teach both Healthcare Strategy and Healthcare Economics at the University of Cincinnati in the Spring of 2019 immediately upon graduation from her master’s program.
While looking for a new position in the healthcare field, Jennifer found the Crescent mission, employees and healthcare model fascinating which sparked her interest in the organization. “I enjoy many things about Crescent. The top item would be that the financial work my department produces impacts Crescent’s ability to meet the needs of its’ patients and ensures patients have access to healthcare that each individual patient can afford. I also really enjoy the employees in my (finance) department and the knowledge sharing and mentoring that occurs within the department,” said Jennifer. “Finally, I enjoy helping Crescent’s employees from a financial perspective, ensuring benefits are affordable and meet our employees needs and providing our employees with the financial tools and information they need to ensure they are as fiscally healthy as they can be.”
