Crescent Community Health Center receives American Rescue Plan Act Grant - $2.1 Million

DUBUQUE, Iowa, March 26, 2021 – On Thursday, March 25 the White House announced plans for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), to invest more than $6 billion from the American Rescue Plan Act into HRSA-funded health centers nationwide to:

  • expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and treatment for vulnerable populations;
  • deliver preventive and primary health care services to people at higher risk for COVID-19;
  • expand health centers’ operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units.

HRSA will provide funding to nearly 1,400 health centers starting in April. Health centers will have 60 days following the upcoming fiscal year 2021 American Rescue Plan Act Funding for Health Centers award release to submit information about planned activities and costs to be supported by the funding.

“$48 Million was awarded to Iowa’s 14 health centers. Crescent Community Health Center’s (Crescent) award was $2,100,875,” said Gary Collins, CEO. “We are looking forward to leveraging this resource with our community partners to ensure our communities receive the treatments and vaccines necessary to mitigate the ongoing risk of COVID-19. We are at the early stages of reviewing the grant requirements and we look forward to collaborating with strategic partners for the maximum impact of this award.”

Crescent’s five areas of focus and opportunity for this grant are: vaccination capacity, COVID-19 response and treatment capacity, maintaining and increasing capacity, recovery and stabilization, and infrastructure.
